Notes on Sources:

ABSENT VOTERS LIST 1918 (AVL18) In 1918 there was a General Election, and on 6th February 1918 an Act of Parliament granted the ability to vote to men absent from their home constituencies. A list of these men was first published on 15th October 1918 and is now referred to as the 'Absent Voters List', copies of which, if they have survived, are general held in County Records Archives. To qualify, the man had to be over the age of 21 and register to be considered as an absent voter before 18th August 1918. The entry on the list generally details the man's name, rank, number, regiment/unit and home address, creating a valuable source of information for men serving their country in 1918.
